It’s not uncommon for people who are on medications and experience side-effects to either take additional medication to reduce the side-effects or to try and regulate them through dietary changes. But what if the side-effect of a medication is tooth damage? I am ever wondering if sedation can have an effect, but my implants Glasgow dentist ensures me this is not the case.

Some people do not ever realize that their medications are staining or deteriorating their teeth, or causing their gums to bleed. They may regularly start using teeth whitening products to lighten the tone of their teeth, but it doesn’t occur to them to take their medications to either their Glasgow dentist or doctor and ask about the medication effects. Having a dry mouth can simply be due to thirst or not.

Dentists can also provide information about the impact of specific medications on oral health. Antidepressant medications often impact the condition of the mouth, and health of teeth and gums. Research shows that when dry mouth caused by certain antidepressants is left untreated, a condition called xerostomia can develop that leads to bad breath, tooth decay, gum disease and yeast infection. Dry mouth is a common side-effect of medications used to treat a variety of both physical and mental health conditions.

In the course of work, ranging for teeth cleaning to deep cosmeticdentistryguide.co.uk/articles/root-canal.html disinfection, practicing dentists in Nottingham over centuries have purchased all kinds of dental equipment. Items may later be sold or be part of their dental businesses for sale.

Have you ever considered what these items may be, who the buyers are, and what they do with the dental items? Dental items for sale on eBay range from toothbrush timers, denture containers, Ceplac plaque disclosing tablets to orthowax for braces used for dental purposes.

Digital art now includes dental vintage tools, such as 16th century dental mouth gags, antique dental descaling sets, dental separators, ivory dental files, 18th century Davier or jeweled dental forceps, dental pelican skrew mechanism and 19th century horn dental mercury jars. Dental hygiene tools include vintage ivory tongue scrapers, toothpicks, and antique dental mirrors. As you can see, a lot of craft went into designing these tools that are now considered historic collector’s items.

The evolution and value of dental items for sale is not only for current dental or alternate use, but as artistic and collector’s items because of the value in design, materials used, and vintage history. Such items have developed over the centuries in different cultures and explain history, such as the Army Dental Surgery is on display at the Army Medical Services Museum. It makes you wonder what dental item or technology for sale, such as the laser, will be the hallmark of our historic times?

What does a Letting Agent do?

The job of a letting agent is to find suitable tenants for a property on behalf of its owner. If you own a second property and want to let it out, for many people it is worth advertising the house through a letting agent who can then find tenants for you. Of course, letting agents are also useful if you are looking for somewhere to rent, as they can help you find a suitable property.

Finding a Good Letting Agent

One of the best ways to find a good letting agent is through word of mouth. If you have had one recommended to you, it is probably worth checking out. Another tip is to look at ‘To Let’ signs around your area and see which agent has the most boards up. Of course, the internet is an excellent resource and most Leeds letting agents will have their own websites. It is wise to shop around.

What to Look for in a Letting Agent

You must ask lots of questions of your agent to ensure that you are clear on their policies. Most agents charge a percentage of the monthly rent as their letting fee, and you should be clear on these charges before you choose an agent. It is a good idea to ask how much experience the agent has in letting in your area, and to choose an agent with lots of experience. Remember that many agents may be looking to let out properties as cosmeticdentistryguide.co.uk/teethwhitening.html. If this is not what you want, you need to ask lots of questions about how the agency vets potential tenants.

Laser surgery is not just something you might have seen in a science fiction film, it goes on every day in hospitals, helping to save and improve people’s lives. This isn’t anything as cosmetic as laser hair removal that I’m talking about either; these are serious procedures which just couldn’t be done without use of lasers.

It the treatment of infertility for example, when a woman is suffering from endometriosis (an over growth of uterine tissues into other areas of the reproductive system, interfering with their operation) then a laparascopy procedure can allow a surgeon to use a laser within the patient’s body, removing the errant tissue and possibly restoring chances of conception.

Likewise, when normal conception is interfered with and egg fertilisation has to take place in a laboratory setting then the problem of the egg’s coating being too tough can prevent implantation in the mother’s body from succeeding. Here a laser is used to make an opening in the shell, weakening it so that the embryo is more easily able to emerge and implant itself in the uterine wall.

This is only the impact of lasers in one area of medicine, there are many more to consider. So unless technology continues to advance in these fields, you can see how many people’s lives would have been affected, or in the cases of thousands of children, never have happened at all. Lasers clearly have more to offer medical advancement than just their use in tattoo removal.

TMJ disorder stands for temporomandibular joint disorder. The temporomandibular joint is where the top jaw meets the bottom jaw directly in front of your ears, and is used every time you move your mouth to talk, chew or yawn. TMJ disorder refers to any problem with the jaw muscles or joints and can lead to stiffness, earaches, headaches, bite problems, lockjaw and clicking sounds. These are the most common symptoms, especially pain, but you may also experience a ringing in your ears, muffled hearing or clogged feeling ears and dizziness.

What causes it?

There are many causes of TMJ disorder. These include:

Teeth grinding and jaw clenching which wears down the cartilage of the joint.

Misalignment of the teeth leading to difficulty biting.

Frequent gum chewing or biting the fingernails.

Fractures or other trauma to the jaws.

Stress, which can cause people to unconsciously clench their jaws.

How is it Treated?

Once you have been diagnosed with TMJ disorder, you will need a full dental and medical evaluation. Any London dentists should be able to perform this and will have gained a wealth of experience with such matters through a dental course. The main treatments are very simple but you should make sure to find a practitioner who is respected in their dental job concerning such matters. You should rest your jaw by avoiding chewing gum, hard foods or opening your mouth too wide, and use heat packs and ice packs to control the inflammation and pain. Anti-inflammatory medication is also recommended. Other potential treatments include physical therapy, stress therapy, bite correction, occlusal therapy, and as a last resort, surgery.

Getting yellow teeth is among the most common teeth problems in every age group. It does not require you to be in your forties in order to have yellow teeth. Even children also have yellowish teeth and many people have hereditary yellow teeth. The most initial thing come to one’s mind for having yellow teeth is lack of proper and regular care. Even a simple practice of brushing your teeth twice a day with a good toothpaste can keep you away from any doctor or dentist. But many people don’t understand the significance of brushing their teeth and hence don’t brush it even once a day. This not only deposits huge amount of bacteria but also fill your teeth with lot of plaque which is nothing less than a poison for your mouth and teeth.

Excessive consumption of alcohol and cigarette can also result in yellowish teeth and black gum. But many people are just unable to kick this bad habit out and hence smoke all the time. Excessive consumption of cigarette and alcohol not only damages your dental health but can also ruin up your overall health and life. Therefore, you should adopt various means of giving up these bad habits and getting white, bright and fresh smile. You can use mouthwash for having good and charming odor. But it is a temporary solution and you will definitely have to give up the habit in order to have long term solution. It is always recommended to brush your teeth with an electric toothbrush so that you can keep cleaning all the bacteria and deposits from time to time.

Some people have hereditary yellow teeth. Though the solution to the problem is available but one will have to go for cosmetic dentistry such as laser treatment. But you should not worry about such type of treatment. Laser cosmetic dentistry is among the safest method of getting white and bright teeth. Furthermore, laser cosmetic dentistry does not have any side effects or negative possibilities which mean you can go for the option with a greater reliability and comfort. But you should make sure that you are in the hands of a renowned and reputed surgeon.

Gum contouring is a cosmetic method that is used to treat people with a ‘gummy smile’; this is when the teeth are covered by gum tissue, meaning that a large portion of gum is visible when the person smiles. Gummy smiles do not contribute to any dental health problems but they often make the person’s teeth look smaller and more crooked, which can make the appearance of their smile look less attractive. Feeling self-conscious about your smile can affect your confidence and hold you back in social situations.

How does gum contouring work?

During the procedure, the dentist will use either a scalpel or a laser to gently trim away very tiny pieces of gum tissue to increase the visible portion of the front teeth. Increasingly, lasers are being used, rather than scalpels as this eradicates the need for making incisions in the gum line; this makes recovery faster and reduces the risk of infection. The results of the procedure are usually visible straight away and healing is very quick.

Is the procedure painful?

Although it may seem a little daunting, gum contouring is not a painful procedure. Many patients have local anaesthetic before the procedure and this helps to numb the gum and prevent pain.

Is gum contouring available on the NHS?

Gum contouring isn’t an essential treatment so it is not available on the NHS.

How much does gum contouring cost?

There are many dentists in essex that can offer this service and it is relatively cheap; patients should expect to pay around £250 for laser treatment and £150 for treatment using a scalpel.

While dental implants were first used in ancient cultures like the Maya, they fell out of use and were not rediscovered until 1951. Ancient dental implants were made from shell or bone, and were embedded in the gums to replace missing teeth. Modern methods for dental implantation were discovered, by accident, by the orthopedic surgeon Professor Per-Ingvar Brånemark.
Dr. Brånemark and his team were working in a university laboratory, studying the healing of bones being done at the microscopic level. Titanium cased microscopes were attached to the bones being studied, with the plan to remove them once the study was finished. However, when it came time to remove the titanium, Dr. Brånemark found that the metal and bone had fused together, in a process he named osseointegration.
He realized the importance of this discovery, and quickly began to research how it could be used. Using titanium screws to anchor dental appliances proved to work great. Other researchers had used other metals, including silver and gold, for dental implants but had all failed. Titanium is the only metal that can bond strongly with bone, making it the only one suitable for dental implants. The first commercial implants were installed in the early 1980s.

A forehead lift or brow lift is a cosmetic surgery performed exclusively for the elimination of wrinkles on the forehead. The kind that cause men and women to appear angry when they really are not at all. Even as early as thirty years of age, there may be prominent horizontal wrinkles on the forehead, and deep, vertical lines between the eyes and at the bridge of the nose. Before having this type of procedure or any other plastic surgery, be sure to check credentials of your plastic surgeon to ensure he us board certified and experienced in forehead lifts. Often, when a forehead has dropped, the eyes may appear hooded, but remarkably instead of having eyelid surgery, the patient will find a forehead lift will remedy both conditions.

Normally, with a forehead lift, the plastic surgeon will make incisions behind the ears in a process called a coronal lift, and pull from there, but with individuals who have a high forehead, the top of the head where the hairline meets is cut and the skin pulled upward and tightened. This procedure is called a hairline brow lift. Before surgery, you will be given a local anesthetic. Once the plastic cosmetic surgery is completed, you will have a recovery period before being allowed to return home. More than likely an elastic bandage will be used to keep the forehead smooth and you will be given instructions on how to prevent infection and protect the area. Cold compresses will assist with swelling, and a mild pain pill may also be advised.

Your stitches will be removed within ten days, and you will be advised to wear UV protective sunglasses and sunscreen to prevent more wrinkling of the forehead. The cost for a forehead lift is about the same for most outpatient cosmetic surgeries. Usually the price varies between $2,000 and $3,000. The surgery may include an eyelid lift in combination with the brow lift. One of the benefits of having a brow lift is, you may finally have the arched eyebrows you’ve always dreamed of, instead of the horizontal ones previously.

Most common issues people with new dentures face include sore spots, excessive salivation, and gagging. These problems will go away in time, however, can be an issue and a source of discomfort initially. Most people are not used to constantly having something in their mouth. This is where most denture issues start. You brain senses something foreign in your mouth and sends messages to the salivary glands which secrete saliva. Within the first day or so, the glands will continue to secrete, but shortly after, the salivary glands return to normal.

Discomfort and pain can also be caused by sore spots from the firmness of the dentures on the soft tissues of the gums. A few denture adjustments for the first few days after insertion can take care of this problem. You mouth will also adjust to the dentures and the soreness will eventually go away. Although not as common as the other issues, gagging is a problem some new patients face. Psychological gagging is the most difficult to treat. The mental denial of the dentures can be a difficult problem to overcome.

Denture problems usually begin with the patient. Most people are not used to having something in their mouth other than food and that’s where most denture issues start. With anything, once it hits your salivary glands in your mouth you begin to salivate. You brain senses this piece of equipment as food and sends messages to the salivary glands which produce and secrete more saliva and do this at accelerated rates. This will be a nuisance at first, but only for a short time. In the first 12 to 24 hours the glands will continue to secrete, but shortly after, the salivary glands return to normal.

Once you have had your dentures fitted into your mouth you can fix periodic gaps between the dentures and your gums with adhesives. There are a lot of adhesives on store shelve made specifically for dentures which help enhance the retentive crossing boundary between the plane of a denture and the underlying tissues upon which the false teeth rest. There is a small gap in the boundary between the inside of a denture and the jaw which is normally filled with your own natural saliva, but this gap can increases in size, leading to dentures that can become unstable. As this gap increases, a denture becomes less retentive and loses its biting strength.
