Hey Don’t Frown at Me

A forehead lift or brow lift is a cosmetic surgery performed exclusively for the elimination of wrinkles on the forehead. The kind that cause men and women to appear angry when they really are not at all. Even as early as thirty years of age, there may be prominent horizontal wrinkles on the forehead, and deep, vertical lines between the eyes and at the bridge of the nose. Before having this type of procedure or any other plastic surgery, be sure to check credentials of your plastic surgeon to ensure he us board certified and experienced in forehead lifts. Often, when a forehead has dropped, the eyes may appear hooded, but remarkably instead of having eyelid surgery, the patient will find a forehead lift will remedy both conditions.

Normally, with a forehead lift, the plastic surgeon will make incisions behind the ears in a process called a coronal lift, and pull from there, but with individuals who have a high forehead, the top of the head where the hairline meets is cut and the skin pulled upward and tightened. This procedure is called a hairline brow lift. Before surgery, you will be given a local anesthetic. Once the plastic cosmetic surgery is completed, you will have a recovery period before being allowed to return home. More than likely an elastic bandage will be used to keep the forehead smooth and you will be given instructions on how to prevent infection and protect the area. Cold compresses will assist with swelling, and a mild pain pill may also be advised.

Your stitches will be removed within ten days, and you will be advised to wear UV protective sunglasses and sunscreen to prevent more wrinkling of the forehead. The cost for a forehead lift is about the same for most outpatient cosmetic surgeries. Usually the price varies between $2,000 and $3,000. The surgery may include an eyelid lift in combination with the brow lift. One of the benefits of having a brow lift is, you may finally have the arched eyebrows you’ve always dreamed of, instead of the horizontal ones previously.
